Summit in Mohali Aims to Accelerate Investment and Development
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday chaired a high level meeting to review preparations for the Progressive Punjab Investment Summit, scheduled to be held from March 13 to 15 in Mohali.
Calling the event a landmark initiative, the Chief Minister said the summit will act as a catalyst in accelerating industrial development and strengthening Punjab’s position as a preferred investment destination across the globe. He described the summit as a historic platform that can help reshape the economic future of the state by providing a major push to industrial growth.
CM Mann stressed that detailed deliberations with leading international industrial giants will help the state government develop a strong pro industry action plan. Praising the entrepreneurial spirit of Punjabis, he said they have always demonstrated their ability to succeed anywhere in the world through hard work, stamina and determination.
Theme Focused on Policy Implementation and Business Growth
The Chief Minister said the summit will be organised on the theme Punjab Means Business Policy to Practice, underlining the government’s focus on converting policies into real on ground industrial progress.
He informed that the Punjab government has already conducted roadshows in major cities including Gurugram, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and Mumbai, along with outreach programmes in countries such as Japan, South Korea and others to attract global investors.
He added that the summit will include multiple key sessions such as the inaugural and valedictory events, along with country specific sessions, plenary discussions and sectoral interactions aimed at highlighting Punjab’s industrial strengths and future opportunities.
Punjab Targets Job Creation and Major Industrial Expansion
Calling the summit a major opportunity for investors, CM Mann said the event will showcase Punjab’s investment potential backed by some of the most competitive incentives offered in the country. He said the state has received an encouraging response from industrial groups both in India and abroad, and the summit is expected to further boost investor confidence.
Reiterating the need for large scale industrialisation, the Chief Minister said agriculture, the backbone of Punjab’s economy, has reached a plateau and industrial growth is now essential for economic rejuvenation.
He stated that the Punjab government has taken several path breaking initiatives to improve the investment environment and has already secured investment proposals worth Rs 1.50 lakh crore, which are expected to generate around 5.20 lakh job opportunities for the youth. He also noted that leading companies such as Tata Steel, Sanatan Textiles and others are showing strong interest in investing in the state.
Highlighting reforms introduced to support industries, CM Mann said the government has implemented green stamp paper in the registration of sale deeds to ensure faster processing and smoother regulatory clearances.
He added that Punjab offers a highly conducive industrial climate supported by skilled manpower and strong infrastructure. Emphasising the importance of energy security, he said the government is working towards making Punjab surplus in power, calling electricity the engine of growth.
The Chief Minister said top industrial leaders from across India and the world are expected to attend the summit to firm up investments. He reviewed the arrangements with senior officers to ensure the successful organisation of the event, adding that the summit will feature exhibitions, seminars and technical sessions with a special focus on emerging technologies and modern industrial strategies.
