SAD Will Never Tolerate Atrocities Against Sikh Youth: Jhinjer

Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer Meets Victim of Alleged Police Brutality in Ludhiana, Assures Justice

Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer, In-charge of the Ghanaur Assembly constituency and President of the Youth Wing of the Shiromani Akali Dal, on Sunday visited the residence of taxi driver Ranjot Singh in Ludhiana, who was seriously injured in an alleged incident of police brutality. Jhinjer met the victim and his family and expressed solidarity with them, assuring that the Shiromani Akali Dal would continue its struggle at every level until justice is delivered.

Speaking to the media, Jhinjer said that repeated targeting of Sikh youth in Punjab raises serious questions about the intent and failure of the Bhagwant Mann government. He said that when the police, entrusted with protecting the law, themselves turn oppressive, it leaves ordinary citizens with no avenue for justice.

He alleged that the current situation in Punjab mirrors the dark phase of Congress rule, when false cases, custodial torture, and repression against youth were rampant. Jhinjer said Sikh youth are even today being stopped from wearing turbans, keeping beards, and living with dignity, calling it a direct attack on Sikh identity and religious freedom.

Issuing a strong warning to the state government, Jhinjer said that if strict and immediate action is not taken against the police officials involved in the incident, the Shiromani Akali Dal will be forced to launch a major agitation on the streets, for which the government will bear full responsibility.

“The current situation in Punjab mirrors the dark phase of Congress rule, when false cases, custodial torture, and repression against youth were rampant.”

He further alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab is functioning under policies dictated from Delhi and claimed that Manish Sisodia’s “Saam-Daam-Dand-Bhed” strategy is being implemented in the state. Expressing shock, he said that not a single representative of the Aam Aadmi Party has so far visited the victim’s family, reflecting the government’s apathy and insensitivity.

Jhinjer said the Shiromani Akali Dal has always served the Panth, Punjab, and Punjabi identity selflessly and that the oppression of Sikh youth is not merely an attack on an individual but a direct assault on Punjab’s communal harmony, shared culture, and mutual trust—something the party will never tolerate.

Launching a sharp attack on the Indian National Congress, he said Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party are two sides of the same coin when it comes to anti-Sikh thinking. The wounds inflicted on Punjab during Congress rule, he said, are now being further deepened by the Aam Aadmi Party.

He added that the silence of the Punjab government proves that the police are being given a free hand and asserted that any injustice against youth on the basis of religion will not be tolerated by the Shiromani Akali Dal under any circumstances.

Concluding, Jhinjer said there is an urgent need to rein in anti-social and anti-religious elements, warning that Punjab’s peace and harmony could otherwise be endangered. He reiterated that the Shiromani Akali Dal will ensure justice for Ranjot Singh and will never tolerate any attack on the dignity of the Sikh community. Punjab Today Logo
